facebook

Check us out on facebook - Just enter 'Normandy High School Alumni Association'' in the search box on your facebook page to:

view photographs - old and new (and add your own),

learn about NHS and alumni,

get notices about NHSAA events,

and to add comments to let us know YOU are there.

Over 1300 alumni have joined us there so far. We'd love for you to be a part of NHSAA!

BEFORE YOU THROW THEM AWAY......

If you kept NHS Couriers (or memorabilia) and you don't know what to do with them, we have a suggestion! Donate them to NHSAA. Every so often someone writes us seeking articles from old Couriers - perhaps they (or a parent or sibling) wrote for our student newspaper. If we are able, we'd like to help them out.

Mail them to us or if that doesn't work for you, contact us and we'll try to pick them up. Thanks! Email your questions or comments - vickie.myers72@gmail.com

History of Your Alumni Association

The Normandy High School Alumni Association (NHSAA) is a non-profit corporation (501C (3)) formed in 2002 by Normandy graduates from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. It is open to graduates of the District schools, teachers, administrators and friends of the school.  It is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who also staffs its activities.

Your Association’s Goals

The primary goal of the Association is to raise and administer scholarship funds for Normandy seniors who desire to go to college or a vocational school. Other goals are to be a bridge from the past to the present to the future through the publication of the renowned Alumni Courier and to keep classmates, teachers and friends connected through such events as the summer Sizzler, tours of the school and participation in Homecoming.

Status of Your Association’s Scholarship Efforts

The Association now has three scholarship programs:

• The Morris Blitz Scholarship program now funds two students each year and has grown from nothing into an endowed capital base of over $250,000 through the donations of over 870 alumni and Blitz family and friends. The earnings of the endowment are used to fund two, $2,500 scholarships each year.

• The C.A.R.E. (Career Advancement Resulting from Education) scholarship program is funded each year by several anonymous alumni. Four scholarships are awarded each year at the $2,500 level.

• The John Masterson Scholarship program was started in 2009 and so far over $50,000 has been raised though the contributions of 550 alums. The goal is to attain an endowed capital base of $60,000 and use the income to award two $1,000 scholarship each year to a student-athlete.

The Esther Goff Scholarship program was started in 2012 and so far over $20,000 has been raised though the contributions of 420 alums. The goal is to attain an endowed capital base of $50,000 and use the income to award a $2,500 scholarship each year to a student.

An Investment Committee appointed by the Board manages the dollars in these different scholarship programs.

Your Alumni Courier

The Alumni Courier is published at least twice a year and goes to every dues paying member of the Association. It is one of the few high school alumni newspapers in the country and is enjoyed today by about 1,000 alumni, teachers and friends of the District. Articles and news covers the 1930s through what is happening today at the District. Excerpts from past Alumni Couriers will be seen on this website.

Other Events Conducted by Your Association

The Association each year sponsors an all class event which has been called the Sizzler. Last year over 125 Normandy alumni and teachers attended a fun and inexpensive evening at a restaurant in the District.

The Association also conducts tours by request of the Normandy High School.

The Association participates in the annual Homecoming parade and attends the football game and sometimes sponsors related events.

How to Join Your Alumni Association

It is easy. Send in the $10 annual dues to the NHSAA, PO Box 210869, Normandy, MO 63121. Dues become due in January each year and the Association typically puts out a mailing indicating it is dues time.

Your Volunteer Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors and their email addresses are presented in the menu list should you want to contact them.
